Memorial Dedicated & Veterans Honored

There was a large turnout for the Veterans Day celebration and dedication ceremony for the new WWI Memorial placed at the base of the Doughboy monument on the Harrisonville Square. 

The event was organized by Chamber of Commerce member Serenity Care Hospice and hosted by Chamber member The Beck Event SpaceKatie’s Catering provided a delicious breakfast to guests. 

Chamber Board Member, Andrea Murphy of Serenity Care Hospice welcomed the large crowd and spoke about the dedication of the WWI memorial falling on the 100th Anniversary of the end of the war. 

Donna Pfautsch, State Representative District 33 and Chamber Member commented on the importance of the US role in WWI and the sacrifices area families made in support of the effort.  

State Senator and Chamber Member, Ed Emery recognized the outstanding efforts made by the Cass County Historical Society and Research Archivist Florence Phillips in confirming the Cass County residents who gave their lives in WWI. 

The ceremony then proceeded to the Square where the WWI Casualty Monument was dedicated and honored by Chamber Members John Foster, the Harrisonville VFW Post 4409 and others.
