Basics of Manufacturing - Job Training Program
Start Building Your Future Today.
Missouri Enterprise has partnered with the State of Missouri and local job centers (EDC & Chambers) to address manufacturing workforce shortages through a training program. This joint effort offers the Basics of Manufacturing course for area residents to gain an entry-level understanding of manufacturing, the manufacturing industry and the required personal skills needed to succeed in a career in the the industry. During the course, topics covered include, blueprint reading, basic measuring, manufacturing processes, Lean principles, teamwork, communications, professional behavior, and basic problem-solving.

Why Manufacturing?
Manufacturing is one of Missouri's top industries, employing hundreds of thousands of Missourians. It also continues to grow, offering opportunities for job seekers to fill in-demand positions. If you enjoy working with your hands and technology, problem-solving, being a part of a team, AND earning a good living, this may be the career for you. The average wage in manufacturing is $57,000, which is $10,000 more than the state's average earnings. This industry also offers opportunities for additional training and to move up within the company. Your training doesn't have to stop here!

The Benefits.
Individuals who successfully complete the course will take part in an interview process with area manufacturers on the last day of the sessions. Because so many companies are struggling to fill vacant entry-level positions, we anticipate there to be a high level of interest. To ensure your company has a spot at the table for these interviews, please reach out to the point of contact for the Job Centers below. Employers should be prepared to share information about their current workforce needs. The goal is to match these prospective workers with companies in a hiring position as soon as possible. Those who successfully graduate from the program will earn a Certificate of Completion. These ready-to-work participants could be the answer to filling entry-level manufacturing positions at many companies around Missouri and beyond!
